Medical Grade Lasers

We treat with medical grade lasers called the “Candela Gentle Yag” and “Cutera Xeo Yag”. These two platforms are safe for all skin types, even treating tanned skin. We recommend a period of one week without active tanning before your laser treatment.

The Cutera Xeo is a completely customizable laser and light based system that is optimized for hair removal and treating common concerns such as veins, pigmentation, wrinkles, and toe nail fungus.

At Complete Medical Esthetics we do not use IPL for hair removal treatments. IPL operates differently to medical grade lasers as it sends out multiple rays of light. This leads to a less targeted approach than a medical laser machine, and inferior results. A medical laser produces a single wavelength of light, which is to say pure light consisting of a single colour and form. These lasers have a very concentrated beam and a specific target, the melanin in the hair follicle.

So clients receive a superior experience and a more effective treatment.

Medical lasers still will not work well for grey hair, fine blond hair, or women with hormonal problems such as polycystic ovarian disease. Also, if you just have a few coarse hairs on your chin without colour, electrolysis will be more cost effective.

The Candela Gentle Yag has a dynamic cooling device which further protects the skin during treatments. Cryogen is sprayed onto the skin, cooling the epidermis, providing clients with comfort and protection.

The Cutera Xeo Yag uses a cool tip to achieve this protection. This tip is glided across the skin for full contact cooling.

Both lasers achieve amazing results with safe treatments.  We have the ability to provide 80-90% hair reduction after 6-8 treatments. 100% reduction is not a realistic goal and maintenance after your series of treatments  is recommended.

We feel consultations are extremely important as it’s a great way to discuss all your questions and concerns. It also helps build a comfort level between technician and client.

Consultations are always complimentary at Complete Medical Esthetics. Come speak with our fully licensed experts who can share their expertise and experience.

Preparation for your Laser Hair Removal

When you are planning on undergoing laser hair removal you should limit tweezing, waxing, and electrolysis four to six weeks before treatment.

This is because the laser targets the hair roots, which are temporarily removed when you wax or tweeze.

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanners for one week before treatment. All areas should be covered and using a sunscreen 30+ if that area is getting exposure during laser treatments one week before your treatment.

The night or morning before your laser treatments we ask you to be clean shaven which is to say no hair on the surface receiving treatment. This is very important as we want the laser to be attracted to the hair follicle and not get reflected off the hair on the surface of the skin.

All makeup and lotion should be removed prior to treatment.

If antibiotics or any new medications have been started, inform your provider prior to treatment.

Avoid any medication if it causes photosensitivity. If you are on a photosensitive medication make sure you avoid laser treatments until finished that medication.

Topical Numbing Cream can be applied to the treated area 45 minutes before to add more comfort.
